How Can I Regulate My Nervous System, part 1

Happy Labor Day my lovely people!

I hope you were able to do something that brings you joy during yesterday’s holiday.

Did you know that your brain NEEDS vacations? True Story!

I thought about this a lot when I visited my family a few weeks ago in Southeast Idaho and we went to Yellowstone Park.

Yellowstone is one of my all-time favorite places to recharge my physical and emotional reserves.

Driving through the mountains, watching the animals and seeing the beautiful streams and lakes just rejuvenates me at a primal level.

Now before you freak out, I am not saying they all need to be big expensive trips- no far from it.

Getting regular walks outside at your local city park can be incredibly beneficial just as much as the wonders of a national park.

What I am saying is that all of our brain’s need regular downtime in order to properly function and self-regulate.

Our brains send millions of signals across many systems in your body all day and all night.

And our nervous system essentially acts like a network of cell phone towers constantly relaying signals from the brain along the pathways of our body to all our various organs and cells.

The nervous system is broken into 2 parts- the Central Nervous System and the Peripheral Nervous System.

The Peripheral Nervous System is like a series of smaller towers composed of our various sensory cells.

And just like cell phone towers in real life, these systems require maintenance and upkeep to continue performing well.

For the month of September, we are going to talk about how to take better care of your brain and your nervous system.

Come chat with me and discuss:

  • What are the various parts of our nervous system and what do they do?

  • Why is it important to do "regular maintenance" on our nervous system?

  • What are the simple ways I can help better take care of my nervous system?
