How Imposter Syndrome Impacts Productivity

I am fresh off a speaking engagement for a large conference of highly accomplished professional women.

The primary topic of the conference was best practice in the fields of project and proposal management…

But they also reserved a number of their workshops for topics related to more generalized leadership skills.

I was invited to speak and present one of my most popular keynote topics on Imposter Syndrome and its effects on productivity.

As I got closer to the day of the presentation, I found myself having my own versions of Imposter Syndrome pop up…

I was told I had the highest numbers of sign-ups for this topic by the event organizer 2 days before..

And for a MOMENT, some of my old imposter syndrome thoughts came through.

“Oh, my goodness that’s a lot of people. What if I mess up my presentation?”

“These women come from STEM and Business backgrounds, what could I possibly teach them?”

All those thoughts swirled around trying to pull me under…

But I used my tools, got my thoughts under control and went in fully prepared.

Everything went smoothly, engagement was high and people seemed to be resonating.

But even then, I waited for the post event feedback…

A day later it came and the feedback I received was…. universal acclaim.

“This session was for made for me!”

“By far my favorite session at the conference”

“I feel seen and called out in a good way”

Now…why am I sharing this?

To brag? No- to show you that it happens to everyone.

In fact, 85% of all working women have or currently experience Imposter Syndrome.

But the trick is I know the tools to get past it and not let them slow me down.

So in today’s episode we are going to go over some of those tools and get you back in control of your thoughts.
