How Can I Regulate My Nervous System, part 3

Today we are continuing our discussion through the nervous system and its sub systems.

Have you heard of the Vagal system?

The Vagal system is divided into two parts, the Ventral and Dorsal Vagal systems.

The Ventral Vagal system governs your social engagement.

It is responsible for scanning your environment and your interactions with others in a social situation and determining “Am I safe?”

In a nutshell, this is your Fight or Flight system in your everyday life and your dealings with others.

The Dorsal Vagal system is more centered around your Freeze response.

When you see people on social media talking about “Nervous System Regulation,” they are most frequently talking about this Dorsal Vagal system.

Without proper control and preventative measures, this system can keep us feeling overwhelmed and leads most frequently to those feelings of immobilization.

But as always, I am not just here to teach you WHAT these brain systems are.

I am also going to teach you real world, actionable steps you can take to feel more in control and keep these biological processes working FOR you instead of against you.

Can’t wait to have you on this final episode of Nervous System regulation!

On this episode, we cover:

  • The Ventral & Dorsal Vagal systems are what again?

  • Symptoms you should watch out for in trying to better regulate these two systems.

  • Box Breathing - a game changer skill that anyone can use to regulate your stress systems in real time.
